Lavender is a plant that is used to make essential oils. This oil has many different applications. These applications can be integrated into your everyday living, through inhalation, absorptions and ingestion.
Inhalation: Lavender is very well know for its ability to create a calming and soothing environment. Using a diffuser is one of the best ways to use the oil as an inhalant. All you need is a few drops in a diffuser, set it up about an hour before bed and will fill the room with the relaxing essence you may need to help you relax and sleep.
Some people choose to add some lavender oil to a cotton ball and put it in their pillow case when they go to bed. This too will deliver the calming soothing aroma.
The thing I like the most about Lavender is its ability to help you sleep. There are known benefits for of lavender for your skin, it is also know to help relief muscle tension and headaches. People use it mixed with epson salts in a bath, or as a perfume. All that is great, but the ability to be calming and help with sleep is the thing that stands out the most… It is what makes me love lavender oil.
Everything stems from sleep, without sleep you are tired, irritable, and unfocused. You can have issues with retaining information or finishing tasks. Your body doesn’t get the chance to rejuvenate which will effect your health… Everything stems from getting the proper sleep you need. Lavender oil really helps with that…
Try adding lavender oil as part of your nightly routine… Right before you go to bed put some oil on the bottom of each foot.. on the bottom of the big toe, and some on the arch to be a bit more specific. How much you will need will vary from person to person, I find that just a couple drops on each foot does the trick.
Since I have started doing this, I have found myself hitting deeper levels of sleep then I have been able to do in a very long time. Suffering from major pain from a car accident I was in a few years ago, sleep became a luxury I no longer got. After a while I was happy to get even a couple hours of uninterrupted sleep… Since I have started using essential oils, the process that works best for me is lavender oil on my feet, and some peppermint oil on my lower back and neck. It’s my perfect storm for a nights sleep.
Ingestion: Lavender is completely safe to ingest. You can add it to your foods, and more commonly your teas. Lavender is a very strong oil, so it will only take a drop or two to get the effects. I prefer to use the oil in a diffuser or directly on the skin as a best practice, but it was worth noting that it is safe if you did ingest it.
Essential oils can change the way you do things, I have been able to use oils to improve my everyday life. I you have any recipes or things you like to do with lavender leave a comment, I’d love to hear your thoughts…
