Essential Oils are powerful… They are volatile aromatic compounds, and in nature their job is to protect the plant from environmental threats. When harvested naturally from around the world you are able to take that power and use it to better your everyday life.
Many of us suffer from sleep deprivation, stress and anxiety disorders, and for some this develops into depression. We live in a society where the answer to everything is medication, and more medication. You end up taking one pill for one problem, which unfortunately has a side effect that causes another problem, that then requires another drug. And the cycle continues. Its vicious and never ending. Our bodies begin to build an immunity over time, and we have to take more drugs to get the same affects. Our systems start to break down and we get weaker and weaker, not better and better.
Did you know your body replicates it cell structure every 7 years! So imagine this, you unknowingly have been filling your body up with toxins days after day, as your body starts to reproduce new cells, it is replicating the cells that are filled with toxins. And not with new healthy cells… Your body is replicating and replacing your old cells with new ones that are un-healthy and also filled with toxins.
Start making healthy decisions now. Sleep disorders, stress and anxiety and depression effect every aspect of your life. It has major affects on your health. It affects your family and social life. And for some you may even feel trapped. I have been there and I have felt it. We get so used to feeling bad all the time we forget what it is like to feel good, feel happy, feel normal.
I was introduced to Essential oils by a co-worker, she knew of many of the struggles I have been faced with. I was in a very bad car accident a few years ago. I went from a very active lifestyle to one filled with pain medications, therapies, and a fight with depression. My doctors have prescribed me so many different medications over the years I couldn’t even begin to name them off. My over all health has deteriorated massively and sleep was a luxury for me.
We started off slow. She told me about the great affects of lavender oils and peppermint oil. I use one drop of lavender oil on my big toes, and a few drops of peppermint rubbed into my neck and lower back, every night before bed. Within the first week, I was noticing a major difference. I got my fort full night sleep in years!
Since then essential oils have become a big part of my day to day lifestyle…
When I get up in the morning I sometimes like to start with a few drops of Citrus Bliss in a diffuser. While I’m getting my self ready for my day I find the scent very energizing. Citrus Bliss is an essential oil blend from doTerra, the purpose of this blend is to energize, and refresh. It can also be used as an everyday perfume, all you need is one drop on the wrist. Citrus Bliss combines the powerful essence is Wild Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Bergamot, Tangerine, and Clementine with a hint of Vanilla Absolute. The smell is amazing, it really wakes me up and feel refreshed.
At night when I get home from work, I sometimes find it hard to relax, let the stresses of the day go and unwind so I can get a good sleep. My new go to is a diffuse with Balance or a diffuse with Serenity.
Balance is another essential oil blend from doTerra. When you use blends you can really get more bang for your buck (There are oils like lavender, peppermint, and lemon you may find you would use a lot of on its own) The balance blend is Ho Wood, Blue Tansy, and Blue Chamomile to relax the body and Frankencense to support your overall well being.
Another great one is Serenity, I like to mix things up sometimes. Serenity is designed to promote relaxation at bedtime. This one is good for the bedroom, I will set up my diffuse about an hour before bed so my room is full of the relaxing scent when I crawl into bed. This blend is designed to sooth the soul, and provide safe haven from the days stressors.
I am not saying that using essential oil will fix all your emotional struggles. I am saying that it is a great starting point. Since I have added essential oil into my daily routine, I have gone from sleeping 4-5 hours a night to sleeping 6-8 hours. I am finding I have a lot more energy throughout the day. Oh and for the first time since my accident I haven’t been dependent on pain killers to get through my day. Remember essential oils are created by nature to nurture and protect plants from the surrounding environment. I don’t know about you, but I could use a little bit of protection from the world around us. I am committed to making healthier decisions and taking steps to reduce toxins in my body. Getting away from pain killers, and sleep aids are a major step in that process.
